How does Xtendlife ensure the quality of the NR in its NR6?
We source our Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride (NR) from one of the world-leading suppliers of this ingredient. Our supplier is accredited to the ISO9001 international quality standard. We test every batch of NR for identification and purity by an independent GMP-certified laboratory here in New Zealand. The minimum standard we have set for NR purity is 98% with the typical results exceeding 99% purity.
Will this supplement interfere with prescription medications?
All supplements should be taken 2-3 hours away from prescription medication. We recommend checking with your doctor before beginning any supplement.
Is NR6 safe to take?
The safety and/or efficacy of Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride are supported by many human clinical trials some of which are listed in the references. Nicotinamide Riboside has achieved regulatory acceptance by the U.S. FDA, Health Canada, the European Commission and Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia.
What's the difference between NR (Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride) and NMN (Nicotinamide Mononucleotide)?
NMN is another precursor to NAD+ and is popular with some people. We had the option of using either NMN or NR. Costs were similar. However, after considerable research, we felt that NR had benefits over and above NMN. There was also stronger scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of NR over NMN. We prepared a 'paper' on this rationale.
Should I take supplements that have NADH?
We have investigated the option of NADH extensively over the years and concluded that using a precursor for NAD+ was a much more effective protocol. This is further explained in a paper under Resources on this product page.
Can the daily dosage be increased?
Some studies on humans have been up to 6 times higher than the recommended dose rate for NR6 with no problems. We are aware of some people doubling their dose for short periods but it is not something we recommend. The ideal dose which is safe and effective is 300mgs a day of the NR which is contained in one capsule of NR6. It is also the amount recommended by all the major regulatory authorities. So, best to stay with one cap a day.
Is NR6 suitable for vegans and vegetarians?
Yes, all the ingredients are vegan suitable and the capsules are vege-caps.
Does NR6 contain soy, gluten or dairy?
No.
Can I take NR6 if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No, we do not recommend this. The only product we recommend during this time is our Omega 3/DHA fish oil, which has valuable properties to support both the health of the mother and baby.
Fish oil is highly recommended by many medical professionals during pregnancy and breastfeeding to help support infant brain development, as well as systemic organ growth. It can also play a valuable role in supporting the post-natal mood and brain function of the mother. As the baby draws from the mother's precious stores of DHA, they can easily become depleted, therefore supporting levels with a supplement such as Omega 3/DHA fish oil is very wise.
Can I take other Xtendlife supplements alongside NR6?
Yes, you can. All our products are formulated to work synergistically with each other.
